相変わらずモリアオガエルの産卵の後始末をさせられています(^^♪。 たのむからしかるべきところへ産んでくださいっ！！！ It’s the breeding season for the forest green tree frogs. If there’s no pond or water tank beneath their foam nests, the eggs won’t hatch. So moving those egg masses to a safe place has become part of my daily routine.

何もかも値上がり。 自分でやるとするかっ、、、、(^^♪。 Since fertilizer prices have gone up so much, mainly because the raw materials are imported, I just have to collect whatever low‑cost materials I can and make my own.

竜川囲碁クラブ。 天竜区にある「ふれあいセンター」へ。 たまには早めに行って、 窓を開け、机を並べ、碁盤と碁石をセットする。 午前中囲碁を打ち、そのまま山へ、、、、、、。 I arrived at the venue early today, opened the windows to let in some fresh air, arranged the tables, and set up all the Go equipment.

けんジイさんちでは、ネギの消費量が半端でありません。 カットして冷凍保存できるネギは、味噌汁と納豆に欠かせません。 I always keep chopped green onions in the freezer. They’re essential for my morning miso soup and natto.

タマネギは植えてから収穫まで半年かかるな根菜ですが、 長期保存が出来るのでありがたいです(^^♪。 マルチで覆ったものは大きく育ち、 そうでないものは、小さくて締まった保存に強いものが出来ました。 Although onions take about six months to grow, they are very convenient because they can be stored for a long time.

桃は熟するのを待っていると鳥やハクビシンが喜ぶだけです。 熟す前の桃はカミさんも喜びません。 食べるのはけんジイさんだけです(^^♪。 If I don’t eat my peaches before the masked palm civets come, I may never get to taste my own peaches. So I’m eating them while they’re still firm.

ホームセンターで「紅はるか」の苗を見て、思わず購入。 サツマイモの栽培は初めてです。 Sweet potatoes are quite the trend in Japan these days. People enjoy both the fluffy types and the moist, tender ones. Roasted sweet potatoes, sweet‑potato tempura, and dried sweet potatoes are among the favorites.

台風６号は、ジャガイモの茎を寝かせた程度で行き過ぎました。 例年だと葉が枯れ始めるのですが、 まだまだ芋は大きくなるつもりです(^^♪。 My potato plants usually start dying back around this time, but this year they’re still growing.

タマネギの極早生、収穫の時期です。 今年はどういう訳か、茎が倒れず成長を続けています(^^♪。 Onions come in many types—from early varieties harvested in January to very late ones in June. I’m growing one of the very late varieties, and they’ll be ready to harvest before long.

昨年の夏、親戚からいただいた食用アロエ。 冬を越すにはビニールシートをかぶせるよう言われました。 すっかり忘れて、何もしなかったアロエ。 何とか再生を果たしました(^^♪。 Edible aloe is quite sensitive to the cold. I forgot to cover mine during the winter, and it almost withered away, but recently it has begun to revive. It makes me so happy to see it coming back.
